In several of our elementary school classes, we use our digital cameras to take photos of field trips related to the curriculum. The students come back to school and the photos are places into a PowerPoint Presentation. The students work together to create a shared writing reflecting on what they have seen by adding text to the PowerPoint Presentation. The PowerPoint becomes a class record of the trip. As the end of the year approaches, students may use the photos they taken in a memory book of the year. Each student whose picture appears,(usually all the students), with parental permission are given a copy of the memories on CD. We also create our own labels. Photos taken during the year are also used to produce Holiday gifts for parents, and sometimes become part of assemblies about the various topics they've studied during the field trips in conjunction with other parts of a project. Depending on the grade some of these pictures are used later for yearbook looking back pages.
