Establishing Our Classroom Rules Page Views: 473
|
1. Students will be active participants in devising a classroom system of rules. 2. The teacher and the students will work together to practice the behaviors that reflect the classroom rules. 3. The students will practice modeling the desired behaviors for several weeks. During this time frame, skills will be taught so that the students know how to operate the digital camera. 4. After students have successfully demonstrated the desired behaviors and photography skills have been introduced, students will be allowed to use the digital camera to "catch" a fellow classmate in the act of following the rules (i.e. putting things back in the right place, raising their hand, listening, etc.). 5. Students will work with the teacher to crop and edit the photos (it is helpful to utilize a SMART Board for little hands if possible). 6. Students record their voices using Audacity as they talk about the rules that they "caught" their classmates following. 7. Clips are pieced together using Windows Movie Maker to create a classroom video. |

This lends itself well to working on the SMART Board, if one is available. Images can easily be resized on the SMART Board using fingers, making it easier for little hands. |
Follow-Up |
This activity could also be modified to create a video from digital pictures that reflect the students engaging in various classroom activities as a media tool to use at Open House for incoming students. Students could use the Audacity program to add audio to each picture frame in the movie describing what is going on and why they enjoyed it. |
