Goal:

Take a song and create a short film that represents the beat of the song. Within the film students can use still images and/or mpeg video clips. Fast movies (or images that represent speed) for fast beats, slow moving movies (or images that represent slow speed)for slow beats.


Motivation:

Present self-made and/or professional movies with similar concepts. Within this project students have to use their imagination and be creative. It would be best for the teacher to create their own video examples and to demonstrate them to the students. Here the teacher would understand possible problems students may face, and provide solutions ahead of time.


What's Needed:

Digital Camera (still/video), pc/mac computer, windows movie maker/i-movie, mp3 formatted music files, interesting subject matter to capture.

Outline:

1: Discuss Project with Students.
2: Use Motivational Technique.
3: Demonstrate how to use features of assignment
(camera usage, editing software, etc.)
4: Students work.
5: One/one critique (give opinions of student work)
6: Students work.
7: Movie Day, show movies on projector.
8: Final thoughts, here students provide what they thought about the movies.

Time:

No Experience: 2 weeks 10 classes
Experience: 1 week. 5 classes

Materials: Point and Shoot, Digital SLR, Podcasting, Video Editing, Camera Bags, xD Memory Cards, Batteries
