Students will use the digital cameras to take a tour to various areas around school. Students will take a photograph of symmetrical objects around school. Students will be assigned to locate an object with a specific number of lines of symmetry. Students will then import their image into either Powerpoint or Photoshop and draw their lines of symmetry.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students can extend their symmetry projects by writing about their image. They could incorporate math and LA by taking pictures of things about a particular topic and write, describe, and draw lines of symmetry.
Follow-Up
Create a symmetry book, take other photographs for math and la projects.
