Students will have a prior knowledge of what a haiku is and how it is written.

Students will go for a nature walk. While on the walk, students will take digital pictures of anything in nature that catches their eye. They are free to take as many pictures as they want, so they have a variety from which to choose.

Back in the classroom, students will go through their photos and pick one to write a haiku about. They will download that photo to a computer and the create a haiku, following the correct format. These will be published within the classroom and shared with parents and the school community.
