How and Why does Water Shed? Page Views: 301
|
Students will study the Colorado Plateau Watershed through geography and literature. To bring this study close to home they will study an area at Naaba Ani Elementary School which is a tear drop shaped piece of land that is the bus turn-around. Within that study they will follow the trail of water and where it goes and how we can control that flow of water and retain it to xeroscape the area. We will use river rocks and plant an indigenous grass to retain water from erosion and then study other indigenous plants to use the water. The students will keep a nature journal with scientific data, poetry writing, visual documentation with cameras and drawings. They will visit a rock quarry and a nursery to learn about the xeroscaping process. |
