Composition Search Project

This group project is designed to afford you the opportunity to demonstrate that you understand the basic principles of photographic composition. Following our in class reading, worksheet and presentation on composition you will break up in to small photography teams of no more then six no less then two team members. It is expected you will conduct additional research in photo books, magazines and web sites to add to your understanding of composition principles. For this assignment you will seek out different composition examples.
Part 1:
On line composition search
The team will search photography web sites looking for excellent examples of photos that employ each of the composition techniques covered in class. DO NOT simply type in the particular composition technique into Google images and grab a photo off the first page of hits. One of the benefits of this assignment is looking at lots of great photos. Donกฆt shortchange yourself by rushing to an easy answer.
Planning
Carefully read over the assignment sheet and your notes from the composition presentation. Discuss the assignment in your lab group and decide how you will divide up the work. Assign a group member as note taker. The note taker will write down who is responsible for each part of the project before any work begins.
Part 2:
Class presentation
The group will compile its research into composition techniques into a visual class presentation. You may use power point, windows moviemaker, iPhoto or iMovie to make your presentation. You may include music. The presentation must be at least one minute but no longer then five minutes in length. The presentation must include example of each of the following techniques. Creativity is encouraged. Look for great examples. If each group just used the same quick search method the presentations would all be the same. All music and photos must be school appropriate.
