1) Give students a map of North America (divided into 6 climate zones). Ask them to color the 6 different climate zones (identify average precipitation and temperatures). Then, give students another copy of the map of North America (this time divided into the 6 Biomes). Have students color code this map.

Use a document projector to demonstrate the coloring of each climate zone and/or biome.

2) Next have students compare the two maps- noting similarities.

Use a document camera for students to share their maps- noting similarities.

Lesson would be followed by instruction on each of the 6 different biomes of North America.
