DIGESTIVE SYSTEM DIGITAL VIDEO PROJECT GUIDELINES Overview: Over the next few weeks you will be working with several of your peers to create and deliver a TV production that will inform the public about the digestive process and how three nutrient groups are processed by this important system. Goals: Our goals for this project are the following: • To learn the essential information about the digestive process • To continue to refine our research skills • To develop our cooperative and collaborative skills • To utilize the digital-video process as an effective communication tool Process: o As a class understand what we are trying to accomplish o Form dedicated and industrious work group o Research the description and function of the essential structures of the digestive system o Research the digestive process for the nutrient groups involved (protein, carbohydrate, fat) o Create a storyboard for your digital-video presentation o Create a written script for each storyboard segment o Practice and rehearse the presentation o Video and Edit the presentation o Self-evaluate your presentation o Peer-evaluate others’ presentations o Keep a detailed DAILY WORK LOG of what your group accomplishes with reflections Essential Questions to be Answered: o What are the description and function for each structure you research? o What happens to the food as it either passes through or is affected by the structures you research? What types of digestion take place? o How, specifically, do the structures you research affect the three nutrients? o Why is what this structure does important in the digestive process? Can you live without this structure?
