Students will use iPads to listen to stories through ebooks. Listening to quality reading while seeing the print being read will improve the students' word recognition skills as well as their fluency skills. Students can also work on fluency skills by using the voice over function to record themselves reading a book and then replaying their recording. The best way for students to monitor and improve their fluency is by listening to themselves actually reading.
Students would also use the iPads for concept reinforcement by selecting preloaded apps that pertain to and review reading concepts.
Students will use iPads to contribute to our blog therefore improving their writing skills. The blog is a part of our website and we use it to communicate with parents and community members what we are learning in the classroom.
iPads in the first grade classroom have limitless possibilities for facilitating learning! |
