School: Los Cerros Middle School, Danville, CA
Planned By: Katie Chivers
Original Author: Katie Chivers, Danville
Day 1: Students will be assigned to work in groups of four to complete the assignment. They will be given pre-written description of weather in the United States for a particular day. Using that information, they will write their own weather report, draw a weather map and make a video of it.

Day2: Students will continue working on drawing their map and writing their report. Once complete, they will begin filming their video.

Day 3: Students will complete filming their video and the using a laptop, they will use the flip software to edit their video, add an intro/conclusion, and music. Most videos end up being 1-2 minutes in length.

Day 4: Show videos to the class. Students are graded on completeness of their report by making sure they have included all of the information from pre-written description, completeness/accuracy of their weather map, and clarity of their video.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This helps students with geography, public speaking and cooperative learning.
Follow-Up
On the test, they will have to read and interpret different weather maps so this helps them learn how to explain the weather.
