Background: In my class, practicing social skills is a high priority in and out of the classroom. We often discuss behaviors such as respect, Trust, Kindness, Honesty, Team Work, Friendship, etc.

1. At the beginning of the school year we will review what positive social interactions are. We will role play, discuss and debate social behaviors seen in and out of the classroom.

2. Using flip cameras we will record role plays concerning the following social skills: responsibility, trust, friendship, team work, honesty, kindness, courage, effort perseverence, and integrity. (Role plays will depict "correct" social behaviors and "incorrect" social behaviors.

3. Student groups (2-3 per group) will then be assembled to create a video for each social skill and include "correct" and "incorrect" behaviors. Each video will be scripted explaining what the social skill is, why it is should be positively practiced and examples of "correct" and "incorrect" examples of the social skill.

4. Each group will display their videos on the classroom wikispace (permission from parents obtained)using our classroom mini computers as well as present them to the class.

Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Video's will be displayed for entire school (4th - 8th) on the morning network.
Follow-Up
1. Throughout the school year, students will film real examples of appropriate social schools in other classes, in the lunch room, on the playground and at various extra-curricular activities.
