School: Central Middle School, Port Huron, MI
Planned By: Renee' Hinkley

Steps:
1. Students will learn specific vocabulary structures in Spanish relating to topics of study – i.e. Greetings and Goodbyes, Days of the Week, Body Parts, In the Classroom, Fruits and Vegetables, etc.

2. After Spanish units of study are completed, students will reinforce their own learning by creating a short educational video which will teach simple vocabulary structures in Spanish to younger students. The educational videos can incorporate a variety of video techniques - such as filming an educational show in Spanish, using “Claymation animation” or other student-inspired ideas.

3. In groups of 3-4, students will begin each video project by planning the focus and direction of the video. Each group will choose 4-6 different vocabulary structures from completed units of study to teach and then create a plan for the video – how they will best present the vocabulary structures to younger students in specific grades K-5 – which should include dialogue, props, music, and other materials/supplies needed to create the educational video.

4. Students will submit their plan –- which outlines the steps students will take in filming the video –for approval. After the plan is approved, students will begin the filming of “their Spanish show” using the Flip video cameras.

5. When finished filming, students will edit the video using classroom netbooks and FlipShare™ video camera software. Students will submit the video for assessment – by classmates and teacher. Students will have the opportunity to improve video based on classmate/teacher suggestions before final teacher assessment.

6. Videos will be posted on school/district websites for area elementary schools to access.

7. Each video project should take approximately 3-5 class periods (50 minutes), depending on units of study and level of student video projects.
