Comments
This class will be implemented in the 2011-2012 school year as part of a newly launched Film program at our school in conjunction with the International Baccalaureate Program. While we maintain a rigorous admission process to the program, students who are not enrolled as IB Diploma candidates (ie a student in the general curriculum) is allowed to take this class as part of an open access policy. Students who elect to take this rigorous film class will be awarded a certificate and college credit upon successful completion.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Because the documentary subject is at the student's discretion, the potential exists to use subject matter discussed in English, Social Studies, Science, Music, Drama, etc.
Follow-Up
The assignment is meant to prepare students for the more formal IB Film Studies Assessment in which students will be externally moderated by an examiner appointed by IB.
