School: Godsman Elementary School, Denver, CO
Planned By: Bonnie Wong Estrada
Original Author: Bonnie Wong Estrada, Denver
Objective: Over the course of a semester students will first be able to identify all 26 letters and associate the correct sound or sounds. Over the course of the following two semesters they will use the materials to build their automaticity with sight words, phonics, and rhyming.

Procedure:
-Students will participate in a guided reading groups using the requested materials as described below.

In the beginning of the year the students will use the Kindergarten Leapfrog materials to practice and gain automaticity with their letters and sounds through repeated and guided practice. Throughout the course of the year the difficulty of books will progress so they are using the other Leapfrog materials. The benefit of using the Leapfrog devices will allow for the students to enrich and develop their vocabulary because the devices have the capability of describing the pictures that are also on the pages. The Leapfrog systems will be checked out to go between home and school for those students who don't have the instructional language support at home.

In addition all materials will be used in work stations to allow the students further practice.

Differentiation: The students will be grouped in the different books based on the baseline assessment that is given for their appropriate grade level. They wil also have multiple opportunites to use the materials to provide repeated practice.

Assessment: The students are given the CORE Phonics survey to determine their baseline data and are progress monitored bi-weekly to determine whether or not progress is being made.
Comments
To get started we really need the Kindergarten Reading Center, the other books that are listed are what would keep us going and developing as mentioned in the lesson plan.
