An old favortie with many kindergarten classes is "Who Stole the Cookie" chant. We learn each other's names at the beginning of the school year using this chant and how to respond to a question.

We read the book "Who Stole the Cookie?"
We practice the chant on a chart.

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
_______ stole the cookie from the cookie jar.
Who me?
Yes, you!
Couldn't be.
Then Who?

Make a page for each child in the room with his/her name in the blank and a picture of the child.

This classroom book will be enjoyed as children read it in whole group and individually.

The State Curriculum Objectives that this project meets in the Language Arts Area:
• Identify various forms of narrative tests
• Identify the author and title

• Follow one and two step directions
• Select appropriate voice level
