digital self portraits Page Views: 275

Drawing and painting students benefit from using a digital photo of himself/herself to create two self portraits. 1. Students have recieved portrait drawing instruction. 2. Each student's head shot is taken and printed twice. 3. The student takes both photos cuts them both in half and puts the two left sides together and the two right sides together. 4. The students laugh because one combination photo is of their most beautiful self portrait; the other is not their most beautiful. (I relate this to their English reading of "Jekyll and Hyde". 5. The students use their drawing and painting knowledge to replicate their Jekyll and Hyde photos into a different medium. Many of the students combine their photo images into their new drawings and / or paintings. 6. Each student completes their self portraits by adding an appropriate background or environment. |
