I would love to be able to use IPADs in the classroom to engage and excite my students. We have two very old computers in the classroom and they are very unreliable. I would love to use IPADs because 2nd graders are familiar with how to use them and can easily be taught how to use various creative apps. Tiny Taps is a great app to use with primary students. Students will be observing the life-cyle of a butterfly and documenting the changes on their IPAD. Students will be taking pictures each day and journaling about their observations. The Tiny Tap App allows students to be creative and incorporate the language arts into science. Students can then demonstrate their learning by explaining their thinking to other students and their parents. IPADS open a whole new world to learning and create technology students who understand how to use pictures and writing to express their ideas.

I would also love to use the IPADs as a way to differentiate for children in my classroom. I envision having different IPADS set up so that students who need different skills can use different IPADs with specific apps for their skills. I have many children in my classroom who speak another language and the IPADs will help them fill in the missing skills. I also have many students who are below grade level and an IPAD will keep them engaged and learning.

I am really wanting to incorporate more technology in the classroom, but I am finding it difficult because of the lack of funds for technology. A computer "died" in my classroom this week and it will not be fixed because it is an older model. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, it will not be replaced, either. I am looking for outside sources to help me bring technology into the classroom. Thank you so much for reading my application!
