After researching Habitats; each group will be required to pick one animal from each part of the food chain. They will then create a presentation showing how that animals survives and flourishes within its environment. Students will need to research more about their animals so that they know what is its food, prey/ predators, homes/ shelters, how it produces young, and what its main facts are such as body size/ weight, life expectancy, and any other interesting facts they discover along the way.

* Each slide of the presentation will require 1-2 pictures, sound, transitions, timing, and background.
* There will be a minimum of 8 slides.
1)Title Slide with name
2) Introduction of animal in its habitat
3) Animal statistics: size (weight & height), life expectancy, coloring, diet, etc...
4) Home/ Shelter
5) Young: The number, method (eggs/ live birth/ marsupial)
6) What is the purpose of this animal in its habitat and what would happen if it disappeared?
7) Interesting Facts
8) Bibliography
* Students are expected to get their drafts proofed before typing
* Pictures are the last item on the slides and can be saved as they are discovered.
*After completing this presentations students will be presenting their information and being recorded for future project on digital portfolio.
Comments
This lesson uses computers with office suite, the internet, books, collaboration of peers for roofing and information confirmation and sharing.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This lesson begins with Science research into habitats and ecosystems. Students are required to collaborate (speaking and listening), read for research, and write their responses onto the presentation slides. Students are also having to find and locate information in books, and on the internet at various approved sites.
Follow-Up
This modeled lesson with prepared presentation slides will be a stepping stone for creating their own presentation with no help.
