Students need practice to develop skills necessary for math and reading. An I pad is an excellent way of gaining their attention and keeping them motivated during individual practice. Learning Labs: There is a scheduled rotation for students to meet with the teacher for direct instruction, work in a hands-on learning lab, and work with computer based instruction, practice, and assessment. The I pad would be used by all students during the learning lab rotation. The language art component would allow the students to discover the letter sound relationship, develop vocabulary, and read for understanding. They would sort words and pictures by beginning and ending sounds or by specific criteria such as rhyme, antonyms, synonyms, or classifications. The math component would help students develop counting and cardinality, operations in base ten, geometry, measurement and data. Each student would be able to work at his/her zone of proximal developmental enabling each student to experience the maximum growth possible. Teacher options would include setting up assignments and tracking each student’s progress. |
