Science
Insects/ What I learned about them? Where they live, what they eat, do they help or hurt our world?

Grade: 1st Grade

Supplies needed: Digital cameras, and time to explore

My First Grade students will be alloted 2 weeks to collect pictures of different types of insects that live in Florida.
After they collect their pictures they will plan how they want to organize them on their powerpoints. They will also use the Florida State Standards in their powerpoints.
My students can also go online and find other websites ab out insects to learn more about the insects they find.
Next, they will present their projects to the class and a rubric will be given to them before they start.
I will also require my students to do a self-evaluation of what they would of done differently about this project to make it better. I feel my students should be able to share what they learned and how to make their projects worthwhile and give them life skills they can use in the future.
Follow-Up
My students can graph their insect population using Microsoft Office, for the Math on their computers.
