I have been interested in developing a series of power point presentations to use with my speech/language impaired students. We, my speech therapy students and I, have been trying to identify objects with particular target sounds. We then find and download images of these objects and develop a power point presentation to enhance the "drill" time in speech. This is/will be supplemented by printing photos on lightweight card stock to use as part of a "visual" library. Being able to photograph objects from their own environment would give my students ownership in the project.

I would love to have the materials and opportunity to expand this to include language building exercises. I would like to have my students go to the local supermarket and photograph different fruits, vegetables, or items belonging to other selected categories. Going to the local hardware with a parent and finding "tools" or a greenhouse to photograph different plants would be excellent "real life" experiences for these students. Some can not generalize concepts outside of their "familiar zone".

We would then begin the process of establishing our own visual library of "categories", etc, as well as words that begin with their particular target sounds. There are so many "possibilities" that could become "realizations" given an opportunity such as this. Thank you for making it possible.
Comments
The students love having "ownership" in the projects. It makes their practice more meaningful to them.
