Beginning Sounds -What sound does each picture begin with?

Standards:

-{LA.K.1.1.3} Demonstrate understanding of phonemic awareness by doing the
following: identifying when words begin with the same sound -{LA.K.1.1.7}
Demonstrate understanding of phonemic awareness by doing the following:
isolating and saying the beginning and final sounds (phonemes) of a spoken word

Objectives:
TLW identify beginning sounds.

Lesson:
Students will view a power point slide show to identify beginning sounds of
certain pictures.

Materials:
computer, keyboard, projector, slide show

Procedures:
Students will identify beginning sounds of pictures by viewing a power point
slide show.

Assessment::
Students will be assessed by giving the correct or incorrect answer. If an
incorrect answer is given, another student will help to provide the correct
answer.

Extension Activities:

Create language arts activities that extend the learning objectives.

Students will work individually and independently at the computer using the
Starfall program. They will study beginning sounds in this program.

Culminating Activity:

Teacher/students will film objects around the room or outside with a still camera or a flip camera and take pictures or video their objects.

Then as each object is shows on the projected screen, the students will have to state the "beginning sound" of the object.
