Needs:
I would love to have an ELMO machine to attach to my laptop computer. We could display books, materials that would not have to be see thru. We could write on any paper and it would be display and enlarged for all to see. It is so much more versitle than an overhead projecter. I am left handed and when I write my work is difficult to read as I smear as I write. Many people us it but it is not designed for left handed people.
My Philosophy:
I teach a child centered classroom. They work in small groups, pair or by themselves. Their work is design at their own pace and ability. The learn to work together, share take turns and communicate their wants and needs. They create the rules in the room where we reinforece them in our daily meeting time. They also have the opportunity to discuss topics they want to talk about. There is many opportunities to use manipulative to learn. There is minimal amount of busy paper work. They learn meaningfully by do and participating. They are provided many experiences most of the other students in the school do not have, because they need a varieity of experiences to learn.
