Class Description:
I teach technology to students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Our goal in technology class is to use technology to expand our classroom walls through making connections, exploring our world, discovering the unknown, and creating the future.
Position:
Technology Teacher
Needs:
Our computer lab is limited to PC's, headphones, and a printer. My desire is to provide my students with opportunities for personalized creativity. Creativity that is cultivated by capturing memorable moments. In order to capture these moments, my students must be equiped to do so. We need voice recorders to be the ears, cameras to be the eyes, and software to be the hands. It is with these tools that personal experiences can be used as teaching and learning moments.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have a great love for life, and I cherish every moment that is given to me. I am driven by life's challanges and I am thankful for its blessings. I am blessed with two children and a loving husband; as well as a fulfilling career. Wow, I really am blessed!
College and Degrees:
My elementary teaching degree is from the University of Michigan-Flint. I am also certified to teach science to grades 6-8. I have had a great deal of technology training at the Genesse Intermediate School District. They offer an awesome program called GenNet Pioneers, and thankfully I was able to take part in it.
Activities:
Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do. We visit a lot of parks. We enjoy being outdoors, marveling in nature, God's creation. I also enjoy rollerblading, ice hockey, bike riding, and yoga.
Favorite Books:
"The Giving Tree" By Shel Silverstein. I think it is admirable to give of yourself.
Interests:
I am interested in photography. The concept of capturing moments, and reflecting on them is fascinating to me. My interests are unlimited. I really do think there is something interesting about most things. In fact, I am often quoted saying, "hmm...that is interesting."
Employment History:
When I was going to college, I made it a goal to work in a variety of settings, so that is what I did. But, my strong desire to be a teacher never waivered, and this is what I have been doing since a month after college graduation.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love children.
