Seabrook Middle School
Hometown:
Exeter
Class Information:
Room Number: Music
Students per Class: 301
Class Description:
I teach band, chorus, and general music. I also take volunteer students and teach them about video, audio, and lighting in order to make videos of concerts, talent shows, etc.. The major components of the general music program are piano, guitar, and music technology.
Position:
Music teacher
Needs:
A few ipads for special needs students so they can participate with the other students in class. A teacher macbookpro that I can use in school, at home, and to make videos of concerts, talent shows, games for online. Video cameras for multiple shots of events to add to our piece meal portable video studio. A portable bass amp for when the band tours or goes to the high school to perform. 10 intel macs in order to replace 10 imacs from 2003 which currently limit the potential of the music technology curriculum.
My Philosophy:
Meet the students where they are in technology in 2012 NOT the 1990's. Teaching them with the tools of today so they have more hobbies and job direction as their future unfolds.
Personal Information:
About Me:
This is my tenth year at Seabrook Middle School. I have worked hard to build the band, chorus, and general music classes to modern and respectable programs. I have a passion for continued learning and fine tuning my teaching and curriculums to keep up with the times.
College and Degrees:
B.M. from Gordon College which I'll be paying off for the rest of my life. Master of Ed (administration k-12). Multiple music technology classes.
Activities:
Playing drums in our church praise band, playing with my 1 and 3 year old boys, taking my boys for bike rides, date nights with the wife when I can get them, and helping those in need around me.
Favorite Books:
The Bible and books by Ravi Zacharius on apologetics
Favorite Quotes:
Positive ones
Employment History:
This is my tenth year here and this was my first full time job
Why Do I Teach?:
I believe teaching is a mission not a job. I teach for the reward of seeing students try and succeed at things they didn't think possible. I share, through music education, how music improved my quality of life and made other subjects and avenues possible for me. To reach all students and show them that I care about their success.
