Destination Imagination students have started an outreach project in memory of their former classmate/team member. "On the sad day July 19, 2009 our sweet friend Maggie Lee Henson was fatally injured in a bus crash on her way to church camp. Maggie Lee suffered a severe brain injury in this accident. Maggieleeforgood.orginspires us to do a good deed for others. In Maggie Lee’s honor, we have started an outreach program to help other patients with brain injuries. We have learned that music helps the brain heal. Our goal is to collect Ipods and Itunes gift cards to distribute to hospitals and patients. To do this, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please join us in remembering this amazing friend whose tragic death reminds us all that life is precious and kindness matters." Ipods and Ipod gift cards to distribute to children with brain injuries in hospitals.
My Philosophy:
What can I say? These children have taught us all a valuable lesson on how to give to others. They have inspired many people to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. It is my job to utilize my position as an educator to support their research to help others. Please help me help them. They are the actual teachers in this very sweet lesson.
