W H Adamson High School
Class Information:
Room Number: Library
Students per Class: 1400
Class Description:
The library is definitely the best place to be at W. H. Adamson HS not only because it has the best view of Dallas but because we have a diverse collection of print materials and offer a welcoming space for our students and teachers. Our students are some of the best kids in Dallas. They truly want to do their best and visit the library on their own time to complete projects and other school work as well as to spend some time reading quietly.
Position:
Librarian/Media Specialist
Needs:
We desperately need additional computes/laptops or tablets/iPads that the students can use in the library. There are currently 16 student computers which is not enough for a campus of 1400 students to use before/after school or during lunch.
My Philosophy:
Be flexible, lend a hand, and keep a positive attitude.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am school librarian with over 20 years in the field of education. My experience ranges from elementary to high school. I enjoy working with students and teachers.
College and Degrees:
Masters Degree in Library Science from Texas Woman's University BachelorsDegree in InterdisciplinaryStudies from Texas Woman's University
Employment History:
Dallas ISD, 1994-Present
Why Do I Teach?:
It sounds so cliche but it is so true, I teach to make a difference in children's lives. As a child, I had teachers who supported me and my family. They did what they could to help us in hard economic times. Now, as an adult, I'd like to give back, in a sense, pay it forward. Often children come to experience life in a hard, cold way. As a librarian, I provide a safe, welcoming environment where there is a mutual respect and a place where they can find an escape through reading.
