I have an exciting teaching schedule. I teach an integrated Language Arts program to two very different sections of students. One is a class of high achieving gifted students, and the other is a class of at-risk students.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
I rely on technology to meet the needs of my diverse learners. Technology is a seemless tool to grab and motivate my at-risk learners. Do they want to write? No! Will they write a descriptive paragraph about a photo they just took with an Olympus digital camera? Absolutely! Do they want to read aloud? No! Will they create a digital story to share as a podcast? You bet!
Technologyis an equalizer. Few of these at-risk students have the technology available at home!
In addition to motivating the at-risk students, technology allows me to easily challenge my gifted and high-achievers. These students use their endless writing, process, and thinking skills to produce quality technological projects. These projects rande from digital commercials about earth day to teacher's web pages. Thesse activities require digital cameras, videocameras, microhphones, extra memory cards, and flash drives.
