Cooley High School

Groton, SD
Class Information:
Students per Class: 600
Class Description:
--Working with 9th, 10th, and 11th grade English teachers, I service eight teachers. --Pictureis of the most dedicated, giving person I know, Greg Mortensen and myself at NCTE
Position:
Literacy Coach
Needs:
--NONE of the teachers at Cooley can make copies. --SOME do not even have an overhead. --NO computers are available to students or teachers. --Threeof the teachers at Cooley are very tech savvy. They would benefit their students greatly with access to a projector, and document camera. They offer their very best every day with only an overhead.
My Philosophy:
Engagement is the answer to capturing kids' attention and devotion to a future. Technology is the path youth of the 21st century can relate to-- Our kids need to know they count!
Personal Information:

Why Do I Teach?:
--I love kids! If I can help one Detroit student or one teacher take a step toward success, I feel blessed. Kids are our future--be selfish--help them to be the best they can be--more money for social security :-)
