Baxter Elementary School
Hometown:
Dallas, Texas
Class Information:
Room Number: 302
Students per Class: 20
Class Description:
My students are second graders- 7 and 8 years old. They respond well to our use of technology in the classroom and math and science are big favorites for them. They also love to read!
Position:
teacher 2nd grade
Needs:
Technology is such a motivating factor in lessons. Many of my students do have internet access, but don't have a lot of experience with technology except for video games.
My Philosophy:
Students learn best when in caring, safe environments and when they are challenged to new levels. Technology is a way to motivate them, especially when they are unsure of themselves. Children can all be successful in their own way and all have different gifts. As teachers we have to try to find that gift to help them feel successful. This confidence can carry over into other areas in which they are not as sure of themselves.

Why Do I Teach?:
I became a teacher because I believed that I would enjoy the challenges and enthusiasm of elementary students. I've continued teaching for 20 years because I love it! It is challenging and different everyday. The students never cease to amaze me, amuse me, and allow me to see the world in a whole different way.
