Fernan Elementary School
Hometown:
Coeur d'Alene ID
Class Information:
Room Number: 113
Students per Class: 33
Class Description:
I teach in a downtown school. The kids in my classroom have been mostly boys the last year. My room is in a school built in 1993. It is a good structure but it sure lacks in storage and bulletin board space. The kids help me to hang things from the ceiling and create ways to display their work. I like to bring things in for the kids to ponder and inquire.
Position:
Fifth Grade Teacher
Needs:
My classroom is not ethnically diverse so it is important that we have links to communities outside of our own. But we are diverse in the types of kids we have. We house the only life skills program, medically fragile, and developmental preschool in our district. I need materials to help teach these diverse populations. I need the tools to keep records that won't over tax my time.
My Philosophy:
I believe every child can learn if the teacher plans and is prepared; the classroom environment is respectful and well managed; the teacher is responsible to reflect on teaching and keeping accurate records; the teacher develops professionally; and the students are engaged in learning.
