Class Description:
My AP students are juniors who work hard, but need college level instruction, They are extremely bright and very inquisitive.
Position:
11th College Prep and AP English teacher
Needs:
We need iTouch iPods so that my students can download college lectures that we can then discuss in class. They also will be using the online regular dictionaries, literary dictionaries, and other podcasts relating to literature and writing. We are a rural district, and many of our students are the first in their families to plan on college. I would like them to have every opportunity available to succeed.
My Philosophy:
I believe that EVERY student, no matter what his/her level, deserves the best from every teacher. I also believe that students live up to or down to expectations, so my expectations are challenging, yet attainable.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I was born a teacher and have been happy in the classroom. When I left to explore a personal interest, I knew that I needed to come back. I teach for the "aha" moments when a student finally realizes what is happening and why. I teach to spread a love of good literature to my charges. I teach to help those like my dyslexic younger brother who received very little help and understanding I teach to honor those wonderful teachers who set the stage for me. I teach because of the kids. I teach for love.
