Class Description:
I teach an elementary life skill support classroom for students in grades K-2. I am very lucky to have two wonderful associates who help make everything run smoothly! The students in my classroom are all very unique and come with their own individual needs and strengths. Therefore, modification is the name of the game in my room!

Needs:
The students in my classroom all qualify for special education through IDEA and have needs in the areas of learning, speech and language, fine motor/gross motor, life skills, and social skills.
My Philosophy:
I believe in persuming competence in my students and setting the bar high! I like to provide instruction that reaches a variety of learning styles and allows for a multi-sensory approach to curriculum topics. I believe in hands on learning and learning creatively. It is my job to teach my students to love school and to learn about them so that I can provide instruction the way that they learn best, not the other way around!

About Me:
Hello Friends! My name is Jennie and I am 25 years old! Although I am young, I am fortunate enough to have my dream job teaching students with disabilities! I also have a wonderful husband and two small boys ages 5 and 5 months. My life is busy, but it is the way I like it!
College and Degrees:
I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2011 with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. I am currently looking into going back to school for my master's in Special Education and am considering a minor in behavior analysis or reading.
Activities:
During my free time, I enjoy spending them with my boys and doing things outside!
Favorite Books:
Of course I have to say my all time favorite will always be the Harry Potter series....it is how I fell in love with reading! and I secretly still reread the series now and then. However, I enjoy all books and when I have time for personal reading, I read mystery, romance, young adult, history, etc. anything that has been handed down to me or that is recommended.

Why Do I Teach?:
I laugh, I cry, and I work harder than I ever thought I could. Some days I am trying to change the world and some days I am just trying to make it through the day. My wallet is empty, my heart is full, and my mind is packed with memories of kids who have changed my life. A child with special needs will inspire you to be a special kind of person!
