Class Description:
Longwood is a Title I school with a very diverse population. We have several students who come from military as well as low income familes. In my class and now schoolwide, we integrate aviation throughout our curriculum. The purpose of aviation integrated onto all areas is to inspire the students to see the relevance of what they are learning in an applicable career.

Needs:
1. We are in need of digital camera to keep in our classroom so that we may to showcase our learning as it is happening. 2. We are in need of CD-R discs so that the students can make copies of their work to take home and share with their parents. 3. We are in need of computers for student use. We are allotted 3 computers per classroom. This is an average of one computer per seven students. In order to work effectively on technology projects, it would be beneficial to have access to more commputers. 4. We need a digital microscope for students to use to view objects under. Regular microscopes are hard for students to understand what they are looking for. Digital microscope are fabulous as they put it on the computer screen and allow you to point out what they should be noticing and allows for interaction and discussion within the classroom.

About Me:
I am a 5th grade teacher at Longwood Elementary in Shalimar, Florida. I have taught here since 1999. I absolutely love the school and this age level. In 2006 I was selected by my peers as the Teacher of the Year for my school. The same year I was selected as Hurlburt Field Air Force Association Elementary Teacher of the Year.
College and Degrees:
University of Nebraska-Omaha Degree: Bachelor of Science in Education (certified K-8)

Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author! For my students, I love Jerry Spinnelli & Gary Paulsen!

Why Do I Teach?:
The reason I teach is simple... I want to be a positive influence in the lives of children. My goal is to make certain my students know they are loved when they are in my presence. I try to make learning fun. Often tims, kids do not realize they are learning, but are eager for more
