My Philosophy:
Adams-Friendship learners have an opportunity to connect with each other and with nature the creation a multidisciplinaryunit that includes multiple grade levels and multiple schools. Whereby each School Forest has the same problem and students work through the scientific process and determine the end results. Here is part of the plan so far. Purpose: Increase the population of endangered Blue Karner Butterflies in Adams County. Observation: Site visit by U.S. Fish and Wildlife and NRCS confirmed the lack of habitat for the endangered Blue Karner Butterfly. Question: How does one increase the population of the endangered Blue Karner Butterfly in Adams County? Hypothesis: If the students of Adams - Friendship Area Schools, working with the U.S. fish and Wildlife and the NRCS, restore 15 acres of the Easton School Forest, by selective timber reduction and invasive species eradication, then there will be a 90% increase of wildlife including the endangered Blue Karner Butterfly. Technologyinfusion: students would record movies and pictures to record the process by which the scientific method is used and record for historical purposes. I have found, through the environment, many of the students who are not popular or not an athlete are regarded highly by their peers for their knowledge.
