Class Description:
I'm the Media Specialist for a K-8 Center with approximately 900 kids. The school is located in Miami Beach - but don't let that fool you into thinking our community is well-off! Most of our kids are first-generation Americans. Their parents tend to be immigrants from Central / South America / the Caribbean, who work in local hotels and restaurants. Over 80% of our students speak Spanish as a foreign language. We can't count on much financial help from our P.T.A., whose membership actually includes more teachers than parents.

I have a Bachelor's in Spanish, a Master's in English and a Ph.D. in Education.
Employment History:
I spent most of the 80's teaching English as a second language in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey. Since the 90's I've taught at Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center in Miami Beach, first as a Spanish teacher and then as the Media Specialist.
