Class Description:
I teach 9th grade English. We focus on the elements of short story, novel analysis, and movie analyis in class. Outside of class, students write and complie documents into an autobiography.
Position:
teacher/tech coach
Needs:
I need a digital camera so that students can take pictures of themselves and their friends to include in the autobiography. I also need a flip camera so that we can try a new twist to our autobiographies and create a video version of the autobiography.
My Philosophy:
By using technology, I find that I can entice students to do my bidding, and they don't even realize they are raising their own standard of excellence. By selecting writing topics they enjoy and giving them technology tools they covet, they produce much more work of high quality.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am the mother of two little boys who love super heros and soccer and the wife of a middle school math teacher. Reading and photography are my passions (when I am not playing Spiderman).
College and Degrees:
WVU: BS of Secondary Education in Language Arts WVU: Masters of Reading
Favorite Books:
My favorite books are all by Janet Evanovich. I love her Stephanie Plum series.
Interests:
I am interested in the use of technology in school and have recently become the technology coach because of this.
Employment History:
After waitressing, I became a teacher and have worked at both the middle and high school levels. I primarily teach in the language arts but have also taught computers and video journalism.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love to see the light in my students' eyes when they realize they can do what I ask.
