Why Do I Teach?:
The spark in a student's eyes when they get it or when they realize the beautiful experience of learning is the motivation for all I do. The world is full of so much that is wonderfully complicated and I enjoy sharing this with the students as we each try to grapple with the difficult questions and innovative issues history constantly puts before us whether it is the ancient Greeks or the current hearings for Supreme Court Justices. Leading the students to find their place in this complex world and to embrace the dynamic role they can play in the world no matter how big or small is what keeps me focused and inspired in the classroom. Lastly, no matter how many times I teach a topic, the students always add a new layer of understanding for me as a lifelong learner. They teach me how to always look anew at old ideas.
