Our six students have autism, as well as cognitive delays. All of the children are assessed through NYS alternate assessment. Two of these six students are non-speaking, and we have begun to rely heavily on technology to communicate with one of these students. All of the students love using computers throughout the school day, as well as technologies like Smart Boards and cameras.

We are always in need of new and updated materials. Hardware like computers and cameras become more sparse as our school's student population grows, so we are always in need of materials like printers, headphones and cameras.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love working with children. One of the greatest things a person can do in their life is help a child who is in need. I teach special education because I think there are certain individuals in the world who can better understand and help students who cannot always help themselves. I believe that I am one of these individuals. My students can't always do things on their own and can become frustrated at times, but encouragement and a helping hand allows them to progress to living a more meaningful, independent life.
