Albion Elementary School
Hometown:
Talihina, OK
Class Information:
Students per Class: 120 entire school
Class Description:
We are a very small rural K-8 school in southeast Oklahoma. Over 90% of our students are eligible for free lunches. Many of our students are Native American and come from poor income families. Most of my students can not afford their own basic school supplies of paper and pencils.
Position:
Elem. Teacher/Special Educ. Director
Needs:
We have many needs from the simplest things of paper, pencils, colors, scissors, etc. We have a small school library, which we are trying to increase daily. Many of my students need the basic needs of coats and shoes for schools. We greatly need supplies which will provide our students with hands on activities, since we are over 300 miles from any musuems or other educational opportunities.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy of learning is that all students want to learn, but need to have their interests heard and addressed. I truely believe that all students can and want to be taught new things and to make something of themselves for their own future. We need to show the students that there is a huge world outside their limited line of sight. It is everyones responsibility to teach a child something new every day.
