Add Me as a Friend!
North Central Area Jr Sr HS
Hometown:
Daggett, Michigan
Class Information:
Room Number: 188
Students per Class: 106 - 30ish per hour
Class Description:
My classroom is a vibrant expression of myself and is a welcoming environmnet for my students. I have a discipline student-centered approach in my classes. With my junior high students I continually try to walk the fine line between having fun and having learning moments.
Position:
English/History Teacher
Needs:
Like most teachers, I could use a lot more materials in class. Our history books (both World and U.S.) are dated before the Gulf War. Instead of focusing on books, papers, and pencils, I'm trying to focus on technologies which will allow us to cover many students using on peice of equipment. I'd love a SMART Board, but also, I'm trying to get some iPads or Kindles, so I can expand my personal library without using any more class space (which is limited). There are many needs, but if I could get a SMART Board, couple iPads/Kindles, and IClickers, I feel I could give my students at top-line educational experience.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy changes every year. This year my main goal is to not let our lack of staff take away from the students' environment. It is us to me to put a smile on my students, it is up to me to teach above the standards, and it is up to me to lead my students to successes they've never acheived before.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because there are many obstacles in our youths' lives today and I simply will not let them be faced alone. As a high school student, I never felt there were any teachers who were there for me; instead, I felt like I was one of many and felt left behind. As a teacher, I try to establish connections with everyone in the school. Honestly, I could walk through our hallways and could bet I have made some sort of positive impact on every student seen. Teaching is a lot more than knowing content area and I believe I thrive in making personal relationships which allow me to teach students who may not be as willing in other classrooms.
