I have 7 girls and 10 boys in my first grade classroom.
Position:
Teacher-First Grade
Needs:
We have 4 mac computers. Only 1 can really work well with technology right now. The other computers are used to access the internet. We use two of them for testing on our library books. We have a mounted in-focus machine, but I would love to have a portable in-focus to be used with a smartboard.
My Philosophy:
I have been teaching for 20 years and it is really neat to see first graders able to use technology in their learning. I wouldn't have it any other way now. I use my computer for everything it seems.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching for about 20 years now. I have taught all grade levels, but K-2 has been my favorite. When they are really eager to learn something I can't get them to stop and move on to something else.
College and Degrees:
I have a BA from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, and a Masters degree in Curriculum Education with instructional technology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
Activities:
Until recently I was working two jobs. One here at school and a part time job at Hobby Lobby. This kept me very busy. I am also a member of CEA/NEA in our district and nationally.
Favorite Books:
I love collecting children's books. Especially the many different versions of fairy tales and folk tales.
Favorite Quotes:

Interests:
Photography is what I like to spent time doing. I have thousands of pictures that I have taken over the years. I enjoy taking trips to see the scenry. I also scrapbook and like to surf the web.
Employment History:
I worked in many different part time jobs from Walgreens, Alco's, Kmart, Cato's, and Hobby Lobby. As for School, I have taught in 3 districts. (Fort Sumner, Gallup, and Clovis)
Why Do I Teach?:
It's my calling! It is a great feeling to know that I have helped children to suceed. I even had a student write that I was their hero because I helped them and I was nice. I have so many wonderful memories of my children, I wouldn't trade it for the world. If the tough kids that take more energy!
