Ludlow Elementary School
Hometown:
Ludlow, Vermont
Class Information:
Room Number: 3
Students per Class: 17
Class Description:
My incoming class will consist of 17 third graders. It is a self-contained classroom. I think of my classroom as a place where students can feel comfortable and want to come everyday. It is full of plants, science related items, and hands-on learning equipment. Students in my room have individual desks but they are often in small groups and clusters. This allows students to engage in meaningful conversation about their learning. I have carpeted areas where students and I meet to discuss the happenings and new learning in the classroom.
Position:
Grade three teacher
Needs:
Unfortunately for our school's location in a rural area funding for extra resources such as the document camera I am interested in is not available as budgets decline and are cut. Luckily for schools organizations like Digital Wish make opportunities for items needed in classrooms to still exist.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy of teaching is to never stop learning. It is important for me to stay up to date on new technology and teaching practices so my students leave my room at the end of every school year ready not only for the next one but to learn and be problem solvers in our world.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love watching and helping children learn. My dream of being a teacher began when I was in second grade and had a nun who I adored. As I grew older my love for teaching progressed into summer camp jobs, Sunday School teaching, and tutoring. I have been teaching for 13 years and have enjoyed every moment of it. There is something new to learn from students everyday. Watching a child get excited about their learning and enjoying school are the rewarding parts.
