I am the entire library staff for Patrick Taylor. I wear many hats but most of them have to do with library service, books, reading and information literacy.
Position:
Librarian
Needs:
There are several technological needs for the library. There is not space for a copier machine. I found a review of a scanner that is designed for books and has a clever way for the book to rest on the plate without breaking the spine. This is called the OpticBook 3600 and retails for $249. We have many electronic resources for students but no easy way for them to convert print resources to electronic. This gadget would suit our needs.
We are also in need of some software. I would like to have access to the updated Photoshop Elements which includes video editing software. I post pictures of school events on the web and want better editing software. I also would like to have the library book group make vodcasts that can be posted to the group's wiki. Photoshop Elements 7 is about $250.
My Philosophy:
The library has an open door to students and teachers, and it is the hub of the school.
