I teach all of the children in what we call "Apples" (AHPL-Arts, Humanities, and Practical Living-aka "specials"). I share duties with the art, music, physical education, and technology teachers.
Position:
Librarian
Needs:
A SmartBoard type of technology that I could use with my students in teaching them library skills--specificallyresearch skills--in a more hands-on environment. I have the classes set up in teams and we do quite a bit of hands-on learning, but I had access to a SmartBoard for a short period of time and found it very, very helpful, especially for learners who need that type of tactile motion-rich interaction.
My Philosophy:
Libraries by any other name are still the heart of the school and the job that is most important to any teacher/librarianis to see children develop not only a love for reading, but also for life-long learning. My philosophy is summed up in our school philosophy: At Anne Mason Elementary School, each student's success is a reflection of and an investment in the success of the community.
