Class Description:
I teach six different courses at Sheridan High School: English 9, Journalism, Newspaper, Public Speaking and Reading. Each class is quite different from the next, a mixture of grades, genders, abilities and backgrounds.

Needs:
Mainly, our needs fall under Journalism and Newspaper. Over the past few years, the Newspaper has been passed from teacher to teacher, with no one wanting to assume the responsibilities of advising a school publication. As a result, we are building the program from the ground up. We have a very small staff and minimal resources: no computers, scanners, publication software, etc. We make do with one digital camera and a set of 15 text books. At this point, we are in need of all the materials necessary to run a student publication: computers, printers, storage devices, publication software, additional digital cameras, a scanner, funding to print the publication. Though the newspaper should be completely student run so that they have a sense of ownership, responsibility and pride in it, I am forced to create the format for our paper on Microsoft Word due to the lack of resources.
