Add Me as a Friend!
L F Addington Middle School
Class Information:
Room Number: A8
Students per Class: 54 to 60
Class Description:
54 to 60 of the best Eight grade students an English teacher would want. My students school population is made up of mainly four hundred seventy Caucasians, two Asians, four African-Americans,and seven Hispanics. In addition, approximately forty-seven percent of our students come from low income families and receive free or reduced lunch. My current eight graders make up a great number of these "AT RISK" population with little to no help at home as far as academics and technology. All of us at Addington Middle School want to continues to set high expectations so we can supported by our motto: LFA Believes in Aces: All Children Experiencing Success. With all children experiencing success, we strive to attain state benchmarks as well as make strides toward an improvement in AYP. Currently, our school has shown improvements over the past three years except for declines in English 8 writing, but we have improved last year in my English grade classroom by adding technology motivation into my lesson. The previous year we were at approximate 60% passing in writing and last year my eight graders increase their passing scores to 92%. I believe the addition to technology will not only improve my students academically, but also for our future.
Position:
Teacher --8th grade English
Needs:
Our need is any technology to help us grow. I have a wishlist with items I'd love to apply to my lessons. We attempt currently to do claymation storytelling, photo stories, and movie makers. These are great, but I only have one camera for 20 students to use at one time. In addition, my students would love to try to do iPodcasting, but we have no equipment. I've taken the training and I hope with your contribution I'd love to bring my students into the 21st century.
