Class Description:
I am a special education teacher and my students range from needing life skills to needing only organizational help. I currently have 4 students that fall on the autism spectrum, 1 student with a hearing impairment, 6 students with a diagnosis of mental retardation, and 2 students that fall under the other health impairment category.
Position:
Special Education Teacher
Needs:
I need some technology items that will help my students be more successful in their general education classes, as well as prepare them for their life outside of school. A smartboard would be the most beneficial to my students, as interaction with a lesson is the best tool for them. They would also greatly benefit from a document camera so that we can discuss their work as a class and they can become more confident in their academics when presenting them to their peers.
My Philosophy:
I am a firm believer that all students can learn and should be provided the opportunity to be educated with their peers. It is important to include all of my students the best that I can and that they are capable of. I currently have students that haven't been included with their peers in many years, but are now included.
