Brooklyn Theatre Arts
Hometown:
New York City
Class Information:
Room Number: 348-380
Students per Class: 80
Class Description:
We are a brand new school in Canarsie, Brooklyn. We are integrating theatre arts into English and Social Studies. This means that professional teaching artists co-teach in the classroom twice a week. Right now, the students are doing amazingly creative work without the aid of any materials but pieces of cloth and papers and pens. We have no computers, cameras, recording equipment of any kind and we so wish that we could add these technological elements to their learning. Imagine them taking digital photographs and using these for set design. Or being able to add photos to their school newspaper, which is, at the moment, typed into a computer by our Socail Studies teacher. There is a media class, where they are working on writing and pefrorming for radio, but they have no ways to record.
